MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Robert “Bob” L. Davis, 89, went to be with the Lord Monday. A native of Washington, he was the son of the late Gaither and Hallie (Rutledge) Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth (Potts) Davis; a son, Larry Ray Davis; and two brothers, Kenneth and Leon Davis.
Mr. Davis was a member of Third Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He was retired from Crane Naval Weapons Support Center as an electronics tech, having worked there for 20 years.
He enjoyed Indiana University basketball, raising bird dogs and hunting, but most importantly he loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter, Della “Dee” Brown and her husband Greg of Murfreesboro; a sister, Betty Pride and her husband Oral of Washington; grandchildren Ian Brown and his wife Jaime of Murfreesboro, Justin Brown and his wife Jess of Nashville, and Erin Gaines and her husband Thomas of Knoxville; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Gill Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Hutson officiating. Burial will be in Aikman Creek Baptist Church cemetery, with military honors.
Visitation is after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
