Betty Jean Osmon, 87, of Washington, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Thursday at Eastgate Manor Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born Feb. 28, 1926, in Washington, she was the daughter of Elmer and Winnie (Whitehead) Heilig.
She was a graduate of Washington High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She had worked as a secretary for the mayor’s office, the treasurer’s office, and was a bookkeeper for O and A Construction. She was a devoted homemaker, looking after her family’s needs were her number one priority.
She is survived by one son, Robert L. Osmon of Washington; one daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Ron Arnold of Washington; five grandchildren, Scott Osmon of Brownsburg, Brad Osmon of Broad Ripple, Jennifer (Tony) Johnson of Washington, Lori Arnold of Chicago, and Bridget Arnold of Zionsville; and four great-grandchildren, Addison Osmon, Madalynn Johnson, Jacob Johnson and Evelynn Johnson.
Her husband, Robert Osmon, whom she married April 7, 1945, died Oct. 5, 2009.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Pastor Bill Malott officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is after 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
