Mildred ‘Millie’ Beck

WASHINGTON — Mildred “Millie” (Mahan) Beck, 87, of Washington, passed away peacefully at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday with her family by her side at Daviess Community Hospital. Born May 21, 1925, in Harlan, Ky., she was the daughter of William Frank and Bess (Bryant) Mahan. Mildred moved to Washington in 1946 and worked at Uniroyal for 33 years, retiring in 1978. She was a graduate of Spurgeon High School and married Arthur Beck on July 11, 1981. She was a life member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary, joining in 1951. She was also a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. auxiliaries. She is survived by her husband; four stepchildren, Barry Beck of Florida, Anthony Beck of Indianapolis, Suzanne Shipley of Beech Grove, and Dawn Beck of Indianapolis; seven stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Yvonne Evans officiating. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
