---- — Naomi “Joy” Payne, 53, died at 12:54 p.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born Dec. 2, 1960, in Washington, she was the daughter of June (Colvert) and John Cissell Sr.

She attended Washington High School and was the church secretary and children’s Sunday school teacher at Vincennes Avenue Wesleyan Church. The last three years she was a nursing home resident, where she served as resident council and helped organize and lead Bible study and singing. Joy loved singing with her family and spending time with her grandbabies.

She is survived by two sons, John R. Payne Jr. of Westville, Ill., and Kevin (Jessica) Payne of Attica; grandchildren Jaylin, Autumn and Madison Payne; two brothers, John P. (Vicky) Cissell and Jeff (Alina) Cissell; a sister, Jewel (Gene) Gilley; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Janice L. Stone.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Gill Chapel, with Pastors David Swalls and Jewel Gilley officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery.

Visitation is from 10 to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
