PLAINVILLE — Robert M. Carroll, 89, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday at his residence. Born June 8, 1923, in Daviess County, he was the son of Claude and Martha J. (Long) Carroll. He was a farmer and member of Cornettsville United Methodist Church. He sang with the Golden Notes Quartet from 1947 to 1967 and was a county commissioner from 1964 to 1972. He is survived by his wife, Helen Henrietta Carroll, whom he married June 8, 1946; two sons, Richard (Shannon) Carroll of Galveston, Texas, and Roger Carroll of Washington; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and two brothers, Donald and James Lewis Carroll, both of Plainville. He is preceded in death by a son, Robert M. Carroll Jr.; his parents; two sisters, Iris Hoop and Wanita Ferguson; and three brothers, Claude, Frank and Russell Carroll. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poindexter-McClure Funeral Home, Washington Chapel. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
