Joan Jones

Joan Jones, 63, Washington, died at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at her home. She was born Jan. 2, 1951, in Wayne, Mich. to Harley and Mary (Pollock) Harding. She married her husband Kenneth Jones in May of 1980 and he preceded her in death in March of 1996. She was a member of Trinity Gospel Tabernacle Church in Loogootee and was a seamstress, homemaker, and a lifelong Girl Scout leader.

Joan enjoyed her family, grandchildren, sewing, cooking, camping, and watching the Food Network.

She is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Elizabeth (Foster) and Kevin Tinkle of Montgomery, Amy (Foster) and Henry Sloan of Washington, Sandra Jones and J.R. Keith of Plainville, Angie (Jones) Cox of Sandborn and Amy Street of Jasper. Also surviving are sons Nathaniel Street of Washington, Clint Jones, Charles “Chris” Jones, Kenneth Ray Jones, and Carl Brazine, all of Shoals.

Also surviving are two sisters and a brother-in-law, Geri Fortner of Alabama and Sarah Elrod-Ausbrook and her husband Bradley Ausbrook of Washington, as well as five brothers Henry “Bud” Harding of Alabama, Harley J. (Cheryl) Harding of Stockbridge, Mich., John (Sherri) Harding of Washington, William C. “Bill” (Dana) Harding of Montgomery, and Mark (Holly) Harding of Washington. Eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Mary (Pollock) Harding, her husband Kenneth Jones, son William “Billy” Jones, granddaughter Kristina “Tina” Jones, sister Sandra Petry and brother Paul Harding.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery, Loogootee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Gospel Tabernacle Church in Loogootee.
