LOOGOOTEE - Debby (Fields) Bowers, 51, Loogootee, died Friday at I.U. Hospice House in Bloomington. She was born Sept. 21, 1962, in Washington, Ind., to Forrest “Frosty” and Judy (Colvin) Fields.

She was of the Christian faith and was a 1981 graduate of Loogootee High School and a 1986 graduate of Vincennes University. She was a registered nurse for more than 20 years and had a love for hospice nursing. She was also a certified palliative hospice nurse. Throughout her career she had worked at Care Tenders in Evansville, Vista Care Hospice in Bloomington and Southern Care Hospice in Evansville.

She enjoyed her family and grandchildren, reading, working in her yard, her cat Daisy and she also loved watching her grandson Hunter play basketball.

Debby is survived by her mother and stepfather, Judy and Tick Pankey of Loogootee and her father and stepmother Forrest and Maryann Fields of Washington, as well as one daughter, Carissa (Pendley) King and her husband Tim of Huntingburg, and two sons, Derrick Pendley and Dustin Pendley of Loogootee. Also surviving are her sister Karen (Joe) Sherfick of Ellettsville, four grandchildren, Hunter, Makayla, and Matthew King and Adrianne Pendley.

Former spouses Ronnie Pendley of Shoals and Jeff Bowers of Indianapolis, niece and nephew Abbie and A.J. Sherfick of Ellettsville and her best friends Connie Hart of Loogootee and Carolyn Strader of Indianapolis also survive.

Per her wishes, the body of Debby Bowers was cremated and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or to hospice.

Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee is in charge of the arrangements.
