LOOGOOTEE — Jane S. Prather, 84, died at 2:43 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Born Nov. 6, 1927, in Loogootee, she was the daughter of Frank and Cora (Wagoner) Kays.

She was a 1946 graduate of Loogootee High School and a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee.

Jane was very spiritual and a devout Catholic. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading and traveling, especially to Hawaii.

She married Robert D. Prather on Jan. 6, 1952, and he survives. She also is survived by two daughters, Lana Prather (Tony Smith) of Loogootee and Jill Prather of San Francisco, Calif.; two sons, Brent (Brenda) Prather of Terre Haute and Kerry (Cindy) Prather of Franklin; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.               

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m.
