Constance Colleen (Colbert) Rang, 80, of Washington, departed this earth on Saturday at Hillside Manor. She was born Sept. 15, 1933, to Arthur and Madeline Colbert of Washington.
She graduated from Washington High School in 1951. She graduated cum laude with a Batchelor of Science degree in history and education from Oakland City College in 1969. She married Dr. Robert H. Rang Sept. 3, 1966, and he survives. She became a bookkeeper in 1963 for Ward and Hudson Motors and several other businesses in the Washington area. In 1972 she became the administrative assistant to the superintendent of Washington Community Schools and remained in that position until 1983. In 1985 she became the office and business manager for Daviess County Surgical Associates with Doctors Rang, Barrett, Heymann and Harrison, and Hoosier Anesthesia with Jay Blair.
Connie was a champion amateur bowler throughout the 1960s and 1970s. She and Robert were world travelers, visiting five of the seven continents. She had a green thumb and loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed canning and baking. She was an avid reader and collected cookbooks and books of history.
She was an active member of St. John Episcopal Church, where she was the church treasurer for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Madeline Colbert, and grandparents James and Etta Colbert and Alta and Charles Remmel.
She is survived by one brother, Theodore R. Colbert of Washington; her children, Paul D. McCafferty of Kennesaw, Ga., and Lisa A. Greenwell of Washington; three grandsons, Tyler McCafferty and Travis McCafferty of Kennesaw, and Lucas Grissom of Bloomington; and one great-grandson, Brennan Grissom.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gill Funeral Home.
