Camilla ‘ Jane’ Padgett

WASHINGTON — Camilla “Jane” Padgett, 77, of Washington, passed away at 8:58 p.m. Monday at Daviess Community Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1936, in Washington, she was the daughter of Walter C. and Frances (Disser) Dennis.

A 1953 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, she very much enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Michael Burkhart of Plainville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. Jr. and Pamela Padgett, and Roger E. and Mary Padgett, all of Washington; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Krissy) Burkhart, Travis Burkhart, Evan Burkhart, Jenae Burkhart, Arec Padgett, Claudia Padgett, Malina Padgett, Sgt. Toby Phillips and Lora Lewis; four sisters, Clara M. Burris Jones of Indianapolis, Mary C. Miley Wilson of Washington, Barbara A. Taylor of Indianapolis, and Anna M. Crouch of Plainfield; two brothers, John L. Dennis of Austin, Texas, and Carl Joe Dennis of Indianapolis; and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Robert E. Padgett Sr., whom she married March 16, 1957, died Feb. 23, 2001. She is also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Agnes Louise Dennis; and one brother, James M. Dennis.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
