Lynda Combs

LOOGOOTEE — Lynda Kay Combs, 71, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday at her home.

Born July 12, 1942, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Melvin and Virginia (Jones) Abel.

She was a graduate of Loogootee High School and had attended Vincennes University and was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. Lynda was a talented artist and loved creating pottery, painting and surrounding herself with family, pets and nature. Lynda and her family live in Virginia Beach, Honolulu, San Diego, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Bowling Green, Ky. After retirement she and her husband returned to Loogootee. She was a member of Truelove Methodist Church and had served as their pianist for the last 10 years. She was a member of Truelove Methodist Church and has served as their pianist for the last 10 years.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Combs, whom she married June 4, 1965; two sons, John and his wife Kimberly Combs and Stephen and his wife Kelli Combs, all of Bowling Green; one daughter, Leslie Combs and her partner Debbie Foushee of New Albany; one granddaughter, Stefani Combs of Bowling Green; along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Terri Ahr.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Truelove Methodist Church south of Loogootee. There will be no visitation and burial will be at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, Hospice or Truelove Methodist Church.
