---- — WEST LAFAYETTE — Shirley Ione Foust Ragsdale, 93, died Saturday.
She was born Jan. 30, 1920, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Charles Foust, in Plainville. She married Edward Austin Ragsdale of Washington on Dec. 24, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb.14, 1998.
A graduate of the Indiana University School of Nursing, she was a nurse at Riley Hospital in the 1940s and served for years as the nurse for the Indiana State Fair 4-H Boy’s Camp. In the late 1960s, she worked in a research position for the Purdue University entomology labs.
A career wife, mother, and grandmother, she also lived in Evansville from 1950 to 1954; Brownstown from 1954 to 1958, and Bedford from 1958 to 1960.
She is survived by a son, Edward A. Ragsdale III of West Lafayette; a daughter, Susan Ragsdale Barkley of Dallas, Texas; and two grandsons, John Austin Barkley of Calistoga, Calif. and Justin Edward Barkley, Boston.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church, 31 N. Seventh Street, Lafayette. She will be buried in Bethel Cemetery in Washington.
