---- — Isma Brothers, 97, passed away Monday in Indianapolis.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1915 in Shoals and graduated from Shoals High School.
She married the late Garrett Brothers in 1937. She spent her married life and raised her six children in Loogootee and St. Louis. She lived in Loogootee the last 20 years of her life before moving to Indianapolis for health reasons. She lived her life as a quiet homemaker who was devoted to her husband and family. She was an avid reader and loved traveling to visit her children.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Zuelke and son-in-law Harris; daughter Barbara Kunkler and son-in-law Larry; daughter Jacqueline Softly and son-in-law Roger; son Larry and daughter-in-law Sally; daughter Nancy; daughter Wanda Walker and son-in-law Nick. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Evans and Susie Evans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett, her parents, George and Alice (Wininger) Evans and eleven siblings and son-in-law, Irish Downey.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St John’s Catholic Church, on Friday at 11 a.m. Viewing will be held one hour before the service at the church.
