LOOGOOTEE — Charles E. Milligan, 89, of Loogootee died Wednesday at St. Charles Health Center in Jasper.

He was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Loogootee to Charles Wilson and Bertha E.

(Foster) Milligan.

He married Dorothy  M. (Holland) Mudd Milligan on Aug. 8, 1953. She preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 2011.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee, and was a 1941 graduate of Loogootee High School. He was a WWII army veteran, surviving in Burma, India, and a member of the Loogootee American Legion.

He was a farmer and had retired from Martin County Co-Op after 25 years. He enjoyed gardening and working in his lawn and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by three sons, David Milligan and Tom Mudd, of Loogootee, and John Mudd of Jasper, four daughters, Susan Michaels of Montgomery, Helen Yeadon of Corydon, Linda Early of Chandler, Texas, and Mary Mudd of Loogootee, along with 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Dorothy Hopkins, Virginia Fleming, and Florence Madden, and four brothers, Richard, Andrew, Hugh and John Milligan, and one grandson, Patrick Mudd.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, at St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee, with burial to follow in St. Mary¹s Catholic Church Cemetery in Barr Township, Daviess County.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on today at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
