April 5 was the perfect day for a perfect wedding. Our good friends Phil and Ashley waited a long time for the right time to get married, and the bright sunshine made the day just that much more beautiful.

Since Phil and Ashley started dating about the time Shane and I were married, we have been double dating for over four years. We think of them as our brother and sister.

One of the most memorable times we spent together was a trip to Chicago about two years ago. We went to see a concert, toured the Navy Pier and visited the Museum of Science and Industry. The guys had one hotel room, and we girls had another. Of course, the girls’ room was neat and smelled like flowers, while the guys’ room smelled .... well, let’s just say we named it the Jungle Room. This trip was when the Crazy Eye entered our vocabulary (from drinking too many energy drinks while driving lost around Chicago) and when we spent $10 in tolls in about an hour, once again while lost in Chicago.

It seems everywhere we go together, from roller coasters to the local fast food joint, we laugh until our ribs hurt.

Now we have a new memorable moment together.

Shane and I were honored to serve as best man and bridesmaid in their wedding. From our vantage point at the front of the church, we had an excellent view of the ring bearer, the toddler son of the bride’s twin sister.

When it was his turn to come down the aisle, he saw the flower petals on the floor and paused. “Oh nooo!” he said and began to pick the petals up one by one, bundling them under his arm as he walked to the front of the church to put them back in the flower girl’s basket.

While this incident brought tears of laughter, the beautiful vows a few minutes later also brought tears of joy. We wish you many years of happiness together, Mr. and Mrs. Diaz, and we look forward to many more years of laughter with you. (You’re going to have to get used to that Mr. and Mrs. thing now!)
