After hearing the professors speak about the planning for Interstate 69, we are even more enthusiastic about this highway becoming a reality for our community. We encourage local officials to be as ready as possible.

Hats off to Washington Junior High School Counselor Larry Mattes and the WJHS Junior Beta for raising money to benefit Daviess County’s Habitat for Humanity with the 15 Hours of Hope project on Friday.

If the city needs to create its own Redevelopment Commission to encourage growth in Washington, we are all in support of it.

We’re glad to see people are stepping forward and have contributed more than $150,000 to the Washington Pool Project.

We are disappointed in the reaction of Washington’s school board president to questions concerning the lack of media notice for Thursday’s meeting. A reporter’s presence at a meeting is often the only way the public has of learning what elected officials are doing and how tax dollars are being spent. The public’s right to know is why the law was written.
