Blue Chip played at Oaks

MONTGOMERY — The Blue Chip Conference found jus enough dry weather to get in the conferenece golf tourney on Saturday at Country Oaks.
Although the golfers faced wet conditions that may kept distance down a little, it was not enough to slow up Adam Schenk of South Knox who posted a –1, 71 to take the individual title.
His 71 was also good enough to help earn the team title as well, as South Knox shot 335 to edge out Wood Memorial with a 340. Northeast Dubois was third with a 377. South Knox put three golfers on the All-BCC team, while Wood had four.
“The conditions were a little slippery and a little wet, but they weren’t too bad,” said Schenk, who finished fifth at the state tournament last year as a freshman. “I was just glad I could help my team win.”
Washington Catholic was the top area school with a 381 that was good enough for fourth place.
The Cardinals also put a player on the All-Conference team, as Justin Hart shot an 89, recovering from a 47 on the front side, to post a 42 on the back.
“The front nine was hard because I had a couple of double bogeys, but I felt a lot better as a I started the back nine and defiantly turned it around,” said Hart.
WC sophomore Austin Deem just missed the All-Conference team with a 92 Garrett Smith shot 98 and Zach Fisher, who added a 102. Adam Joyce added a 103 that was not counted in the team score of 381.
“We ended up fourth, but I was really pleased because of the way we had been playing lately,” said WC coach Mike Chestnut. “We still need to make some progress, but all in all it was a pretty good day. I’m pleased for Justin because he has worked hard this year and is deserving of all-conference. We almost had two guys, but Austin will be back and get it next year.
Loogootee also put a player on the All-BCC team, as Will Breeden shot a 90. Ben Hogan added a 100, while Clint Burch and Steven Bradley shot a pair of 102s.
Barr-Reeve added a 449 as a team to edge out Shoals’ 461.
Lance Miller led B-R with a 103, while Eric Blair had a 104 and Jonah Otto added a 105 for the Vikes. Trey Showalter also participated in the Vikings’ scoring. DJ Harder led Shoals with a 94.
“The wet conditions were a factor for us today,” said B-R varsity assistant Aaron Ash.
