MONTGOMERY — The North Daviess golf team continued its season of solid play with a 178-198 victory over Washington Catholic in a dual duel at Country Oaks.
Under threatening skies and with temperatures plummeting throughout the afternoon, Rick Graber was able to post a 41 for medalist honors.
Blake Burkhart was second with a 43 and teammate Blane Lawyer was third with a 44.
WC’s top scorer was Justin Hart who shot a 47 including a chip-in for birdie at No. 2, a hole Burkhart also made birdie.
“It was windy and cold and this is a different type of course from what we are used to. It is longer and has faster greens, but I was pleased with how we played,” said ND coach Brian Brinager.
“Blake and Ricky have been very consistent all year, which is good to see. I would like to see one more score in the 40s, but we still have a lot of golf to play before sectional.”
Cardinal Adam Joyce added a 49, while WC’s Austin Deem and ND’s Neil Parsons both shot 50s. Garrett Smith rounded out the Cardinal scoring with a 52.
Also posting scores for WC was Gabe Wise with a 57, Chris McCain with a 60 and a 61 from Zach Fisher. Playing, but not scoring for ND was Logan Brinager with a 52 and Nick Heshleman with a 64.
“There is a lot of work still to be done. We work and work at practice, but we still do the same things over and over,” said WC coach Mike Chestnut.
“Adam Joyce is improving and really seems to be taking things seriously.”
