INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Anyone planning to attend the grand opening celebration for the new Lucas Oil Stadium should leave their Colts jersey at home. The invitation says cocktail attire is suggested.
Tickets for the Aug. 14 dinner event cost $250.
Former NFL and Notre Dame quarterback Joe Theismann will serve as master of ceremonies for the event, which will include music by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Organizers said Thursday that, weather permitting, the stadium’s retractable roof will be opened during the celebration.
Another opening ceremony is planned for Aug. 16, the day for which 100,000 tickets for public tours have been distributed.
The first sports events in the stadium will be the Aug. 22-23 PeyBack Classic featuring four high school football games, followed by the first Colts home preseason game Aug. 24 against the Buffalo Bills.
