PAOLI — Loogootee opened the 2008 volleyball campaign with a 25-4, 25-9, 25-11 win over Paoli on Monday.
Kara Mann topped the Lady Lions with 14 kills, followed by Kelci Mann with seven. Kelci Mann added 19 service points, including six aces.
Mindy Fields had 14 assists while Alyssa Dobson led LHS with 15 assists. Kristine Lagree contributed six digs. Kristan Hall added 18 service points, including five aces.
Loogootee also won the reserve match 25-9, 25-18.
ND downs Edgewood
The North Daviess tennis team celebrated the dedication of Tony Steele Tennis Court with a 3-2 victory over Edgewood on Monday.
Cougar wins came from Logan Wagler at No. 2 singles, 6-3 and 6-0 over Alex Narey. ND also took both doubles matches Thomas Nugent and Blake Burkhart were 0 and 0 winners at No. 1, while Austin Lengacher and Lewis Nugent won, 6-1 and 6-4 at No. 2.
At No. 1 singles, Blaine Lawyer lost 3-6, 6-2 and 2-6, while Tyler McDonald lost in three sets, 6-0, 3-6 and 5-7.
ND also took both JV spots, with Joey Riggins and the doubles team of Cody Parsons and Rob wilson winning.
B-R opens with win
MONTGOMERY — The Barr-Reeve Viking tennis team (1-0) opened with a strong 4-1 over Linton on Tuesday afternoon.
The Vikings swept the singles matches with Hogan Helms winning 2 and 1 over Kris Shipman, Willie Helms beating Taylor Sloan, 1 and 1 and Chrisian Duncheon coming up with a 0 and 0 shutout of Ben Brown.
Vikings Kendall Murphy and Luke Harmon posted a 6-3 and 6-2 win over Chase Rhaten and Merrick McBride. Linton’s only win came as Brandon Graber and Jon Gingerich lost ion three sets, 6-0, 5-7 and 2-6.
B-R also got a JV win from Nick Hawkins.
