VINCENNES — In just her fourth match as a freshman, North Daviess golfer Darrah Holder was medalist in a 3-way match at the Vincennes Elks on Tuesday.
Holder shot 45 on the back side to lead all golfers, while Pike Central won the team event with a 202 and South Knox shot 212. Wood Memorial did not post a team score.
“It is incredible to see how much she has improved,” said ND assistant coach Brett Melton. “Her confidence is growing with every match. She works very hard.”
Loogootee stays unbeaten
LOOGOOTEE — The Class A No. 6 Loogootee Lion volleyball team remained unbeaten after downing Linton, 25-15, 25-18 and 25-17.
The Lions were led by Kristin Hall and Kelci Mann with 10 kills each and eight from Kara Mann. Alyssa Dobson posted 36 assists and Kristine Lagree and Hall combined for 18 digs.
“The girls did a nice job of adjusting to the 5-1 instead of the 6-2 that they are used to running,” said LHS Phil Goodpasture.
The LHS JV won in two games.
WC beats Wood Memorial
OAKLAND CITY — The Washington Catholic volleyball team beat Wood Memorial in five games on Monday.
WC opened with a pair of wins, 25-20 and 25-18, but lost the next two 25-27 and 23-25, before winning the final 15-12.
WC was led by Sam Arnold with 16 kills and six digs, while Paige Campton had 13 kills, three block and six digs, and Anna Marie Butcher added 11 kills, two blocks and 10 digs.
The WC JV lost 19-25 and 6-25.

VINCENNES — The Class A No. 7 Barr-Reeve Vikings posted another three-game win on Tuesday.
