The Washington Hatchet volleyball team dropped a three-game match to Mt. Carmel on Thursday, 23-25, 21-25 and 23-25.
Jessica Prewett had three blocks, Taylor May led with 20 assists, while Kailey Hamilton. Sara Eblin had 11 kills, while Prewett had nine. Eblin also added 20 digs.
The JV team won in three, 25-13, 21-25 and 15-14.
Kelci Newton had 19 digs and nine kills, while Olivia Lengacher added eight kills and four blocks. Payton Shake had 12 assists.
WJHS 7th grade skins Wildcats
The Washington Junior High School seventh grade football team improved to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play Tuesday by defeating Jasper, 20-6 at Hatchet Hollow.
The Hatchets went up 6-0 in the first quarter on a 15-yard scoring pass from Jake Brashear to Cameron Worland. Washington took a 12-0 lead into halftime after a 15-yard touchdown run by Worland.
In the third quarter, the Hatchets extended their lead to 20-0 after a 20-yard scoring run by Brashear and a successful conversion run by Worland. The Hatchet defense held the Wildcat offense scoreless until late in the fourth quarter as Jasper finally scored on a 15-yard pass play, but failed on the conversion attempt.
The Hatchets face conference opponent Boonville next Tuesday at Hatchet Hollow.
