Senior Logan Hawthorne and juniors Joe McCormick and Brad Thornton were named to the team that included nine from conference winner Jasper.

Three Washington football players were named All Big Eight Conference on Tuesday.

Senior Logan Hawthorne and juniors Joe McCormick and Brad Thornton were named to the team that included nine from conference winner Jasper.

Thornton, a 6-foot, 205 lb. tackle and linebacker, joins the all-conference squad at tackle.

Hawthorne, a 5-foot-8, 195 lb. fullback, was named on the defensive side as a linebacker.

McCormick, a 5-foot-7, 175 lb. halfback, was named as a defensive back.

The Hatchets (6-4, 2-4 Big Eight) tied with Mount Carmel, Ill., with three all-conference nods.

Mount Vernon and Boonville had five on the team, with Princeton receiving one player on the squad.

No players on the squad were named from Vincennes Lincoln.

Rounding out the squad on offense are: Center — Justin Schroeder, Mt. Vernon; Guard — Matt Smith, Mt. Carmel and Chad Johnson, Boonville; Tackle — Thornton and Matt May, Jasper; Tight End — Adam Knies, Jasper; Running Back — Kyle Whitten, Boonville, Taylor Day, Jasper and Skyler Davis, Mt. Vernon; Wide Receiver — Scott Wendholt, Jasper; Quarterback — Austin Ahrens, Jasper; Punter — Cameron Morris, Boonville.

On defense are: Tackle — Tyler Jenkins, Jasper, Tanner Crum, Mt. Carmel, Dustan Rubenacker, Mt. Vernon and R.J. Morris, Princeton; Linebacker — Beau Grant, Mt. Carmel, Nate Dixon, Mt. Vernon, Tyler Krempp, Jasper and Hawthorne; Defensive Back — Ridge Green, Boonville, Spencer Fuhs, Jasper and McCormick; and Punter — Nalon Bell, Jasper.

Four Big Eight teams are still in their respective state football tournaments as Boonville plays Jasper in the Class 4A sectional and Washington takes on Gibson Southern in the Class 3A sectional.

Mount Carmel qualified for tournament play in Illinois and will play Mahomet-Seymour on Saturday.
