ORLEANS — The Loogootee Lady Lions went on the road and returned with a victory over Orleans (3-2) on Tuesday, 42-39.
The win was the second-straight for LHS (2-2).
Loogootee was led by Trista Strange with 14 points and Brittany Bateman had eight. Kelci Mann added seven and Emily Callahan had six. Wynter Wagoner had five points and Kyanna Strange rounded out the scoring with two.
“We had very balanced scoring against a very tough and talented opponent tonight,” said LHS coach Dave Smith. “We know we are going to have another tough opponent on Thursday with Barr-Reeve.”
No JV game was played.
Lady Hatchet frosh down Lincoln
The Lady Hatchet freshmen team improved to 2-0 by defeating Vincennes Lincoln 25-20.
Leading scores were Mikala Barber and Madi Heacock each with six. Chelsey Hedrick and Josie Ivy added four apiece, Katie Schmitt three and Chloe Heller two. The Lady Hatchets out scored Lincoln in the final quarter 10-2 for the victory. The freshmen team will be back in action on Dec. 16 when they will host Jasper.
B-R 8th beats Washington
MONTGOMERY — The Barr-Reeve eighth grade girls overcame a 15-point, fourth quarter deficit to beat Washington Junior High, 31-28.
Leading the Vikes was Cori Cummings with 14, including going 5-6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Tanisha Graber had eight, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Kayla Wagler with four.
Jenna Knepp added three and Barbara Knepp had two.
Washington was led by Audra Lane with 10, Courtney Shake had four, Jerrica Perkins added six, Hannah Mason had three and Rachel Chattin had five.
