Man killed in motorcycle crash south of Monroe City

MONROE CITY — A  Vincennes man died in a motorcycle accident on Friday afternoon south of Monroe City.

Thomas B. Cooper, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner.

At 2:45 p.m. deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department responded to SR 61, south of Ramsey Orchard Road, which is south of Monroe City, for a report of a motorcycle crash which involved personal injury to the driver. When EMTs and deputies arrived at the scene a short time later, they located the male rider and his motorcycle in the ditch.

His family was notified a short time later.

The crash is still under investigation. More details will be released as information is gathered.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Harrison Township Fire Department, Knox County EMS, and the Coroner’s Office.

Sheriff Michael Morris said he would like to thank the concerned citizens who stopped and rendered assistance at the crash prior to the arrival of the rescue and law enforcement personnel.
