The Daviess County Health Department announces as of the time of this release, since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in April, the total deaths remain at 17 and the total confirmed positive cases are at 74 in Daviess County.
Of those 74 cases, 41 have fully recovered and 20 are currently in quarantine. Since May 15 (our last reporting date), Daviess County has seen 11 new positive confirmed cases. Those 11 people are included in the 20 that have been placed in quarantine and are all stemming from positive cases at Farbest Foods in Huntingburg. Farbest Foods has temporarily stopped operations. Those who have had direct contact with all positive cases have been notified.
Our department will not be providing daily updates as we have in the past, but any pertinent information will be distributed to the public as soon as possible. We will continue to update the public on positive case numbers and deaths periodically throughout each week.
As we move through stage two of the “Back on Track Indiana” guidance, we hope everyone continues to follow social distancing guidelines and protects yourself and those who are at the highest risk: our elderly population and/or those with pre-existing health conditions.
