Arts and Flowers Garden Club names yard of the month

Photo Submitted The garden of Debbie Shields was named the Washington Arts and Flowers Garden Club garden of the month.

This month's yard can be found at 9 Tulip Lane, the residence of Debbie Shields. Her love for color and the great outdoors is evident everywhere you look.

Having lived here for 25 years, Shields has added to the front pink poppet weigela, weeping cherry, a red Japanese maple, crepe myrtle and candy tuff. Bright orange lantana circles the mailbox, while containers around the house are filled with fuschia and pink bubblegum petunias.

A side sitting area has shasta daisies, blue fescue grass, pink knockout roses, a yellow tea rose and spider wort.

Color is extended to the back with a variegated hosta and azalea. Surrounding the deck she has a bleeding heart and astilbe among colorful planted containers.

This is a partial listing of plants that she has, making this yard easy to choose.
