Martin truck accident

Rescue crews in Martin County work the scene of a two-truck collision on U.S. 50 Monday morning.

HALBERT TOWNSHIP — One person was badly injured in a two-truck collision in Martin County Monday morning. Indiana State Police and the Martin County Sheriff’s Department were called to the accident around 9:30 a.m. on U.S. 50 at Red School Road just west of the entrance to the Martin State Forest.

Authorities report a 2011 Dodge truck hauling gravel driven by Adam Moon, Boonville, and a purple 2011 Kenworth semi-truck driven by David Rottet Jr., Winslow, sideswiped while travelling on 50. Martin County Chief Deputy Josh Green says Moon was taken by ambulance to Shoals where he was loaded into a helicopter and flown to University of Louisville Hospital. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Indiana State Police and Martin County deputies were forced to limit traffic to one lane during the investigation and at times close U.S. 50 altogether during the accident clean up. The road re-opened completely to traffic at 4:30 p.m. after having traffic restricted for seven hours.
