The Daviess County Health Department in conjunction with local county and school officials want to make notice to all residents of Daviess County that we have been alerted by the Indiana State Department of Health of high COVID-19 positivity rate and community spread.
Daviess County is currently top 5 in the State of Indiana for COVID-19 positivity rate and our numbers continue to rise. According to the Indiana State Department of Health we are at Level Orange (medium to high community spread) on the verge of Red (very high) based upon our weekly positive cases and positivity rate.
A Level Red means that the State Health Commissioner and the Daviess County Health Officer may take action to restrict activities in our county. Such as large events, K-12 extra-curricular activities and business capacity limitations.
It is important that we stay vigilant in following the infection control guidelines of the Centers of Disease Control and the Indiana State Department of Health. Daviess County is still under a mask mandate provided by Indiana Executive Order 20-37. Please do your part to help stop the spread by wearing masks, social distancing, hand washing and avoid social gatherings. Be aware of the risks of traveling and we recommend to self-isolate upon return. Stay home if you are sick and get tested! Tests are available at any medical provider offices in Daviess County.
Our healthcare workers have worked tirelessly to provide services and with a rise in positive cases our healthcare system is quickly reaching capacity. We are concerned about the rise in numbers of positive COVID-19 cases and make a strong plea to our businesses, churches, community centers and industry to help with following the CDC infection control guidelines as well as Indiana Executive Orders. We do not want to shut down our economy or close our schools and hope that everyone does their part to keep our County open and safe!
