For years Brody Boyd was more than pretty good at putting a basketball in a hoop. His skill made him one of the top high school basketball scorers in the state during his time at Union-Dugger High School. It also landed him a scholarship to the University of Iowa where he played college basketball.
It wasn’t Boyd’s basketball skills that led him to his latest good fortune. Boyd just cashed in a $500,000 lottery scratch off ticket that he purchased in Washington.
The Hoosier Lottery reports Boyd cashed in a $500,000 Cash Royale scratch-off ticket purchased at Circle K at the corner of SR 57 and West National Highway.
After graduating from college Boyd spent some time playing professional basketball overseas before coming back to Indiana and settling back into the Dugger area.
At the Circle K where the winning ticket was sold there was some well-contained excitement.
“I really can’t comment very much about it at the direction of lottery security,” said assistant manager Patrick Cox. “There is a little excitement but for the most part it is go back to work.”
