SEPTEMBER IS FALL PREVENTION AWARENESS MONTH

Here is a tip from Active Daily living on how you can prevent falls in your home. While it is best to remove uneven thresholds, sometimes this is not possible. Instead, paint thresholds that are higher than a half of inch. This will make the threshold stand out visually so that you do not trip over it. If you found this quick tip helpful and would like to access more tips like this, please visit the Generations website at www.generationsnetwork.org and click on the Active Daily Living link on the home page. Active Daily Living offers FREE, personalized advice to enhance health, independence and aging in place. Here you can access videos, articles and resources that are tailored to your needs on a variety of topics that focus on older adults and caregivers.

LONG TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN AVAILABLE

Did you know that the local Ombudsman is available to advocate for residents of long-term care and residential facilities? The primary purpose of the Ombudsman is to promote and protect the resident rights guaranteed to residents under federal and state law. During this time of nursing home and other facility visitation restrictions, please know that Long Term Care Ombudsman services are still available to residents. While ombudsmen are restricted from visiting facilities, you can still talk with the ombudsman in your area via telephone or email.
