MONTGOMERY – Barr-Reeve High School will hold its fifty-eighth Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 27 in the high school gymnasium beginning at 11 a.m.. Graduates will march to the processional call of “Pomp and Circumstance,” as played by the Barr-Reeve High School Band under the direction of Mrs. Stephanie O’Brian.

The Barr-Reeve High School Choir will perform the “The Star Spangled Banner.” Opening remarks will be given by Class President Colton Stoll. Music selection during the Commencement Exercises will be,“Come Sail Away” which will be performed by the band and featuring Senior,Griffin Bell. The high school chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Misty Mosby, will perform Thank You”. Prelude music will begin at 10:40 a.m.

The Salutatory Addresses will be given by Sarah Bledsoe, Chantel Graber and Natalie Wagler and the Valedictory Addresses will be given by Beth Graber and Braylee Knepp.

The presentation of special awards will be made by High School Principal, Mr. Jeffery Doyle, followed by the presentation of diplomas by Dr. Travis Madison, Barr-Reeve Superintendent and School Board Members, Dr. Lana Helms, Mr. Alex Knepp, and Mr. Jody Schultheis. A slideshow spotlighting the Class of 2023 and a candlelight ceremony will conclude the commencement ceremonies.

The Barr-Reeve Senior Class of 2023 has chosen the White Lily as the class flower. The class colors are lavender and silver. The class will graduate under the motto – “Everybody love everybody.” The Class Sponsors are Mrs. Kerri Boyd, Mrs. Amber DeCoursey, Mrs. Julie King and Mr. Tim Swartzentruber. Class officers include Colton Stoll, President; Madison Brunson, Vice-President; Brooklyn Jones, Secretary; Kaitlin Miller, Treasurer; and Griffin Bell and Dylan DeCoursey, Senior Student Council Representatives.

Class of 2023 Valedictorians

Beth Graber— Beth is the daughter of Nathan and Anita Graber. Beth served as Class President her junior year and has been a member of Beta Club all four years. She has been a member of the Math Academic Team for the past three years. Her team placed first at the Blue Chip Conference Competition all three years and third place at the state competition her junior year. In her senior year, she became team captain of the Math Team. Beth has also been a member of the Spell Bowl Team all four years. Her Spell Bowl Team placed first in the Blue Chip Conference Competition as well as the state competition in both her freshman and junior years. Beth received three varsity letters in Basketball, participating all four years of high school. Her junior year she received the Blue Chip Character Counts Award. In her senior year, Beth received ICGSA Academic All-State, IBCA Academic All-State Honorable Mention, and led the team as one of the Team Captains. Beth received two varsity letters in Tennis, participating her junior and senior years. She was the manager for the Boys’ Tennis Team her senior year. Beth has also been active in FCA all four years of high school. Beth has received a few scholarships and honors, including being named Second Alternate for the Lilly Endowment Scholarship, a C. Eugene Cato Scholar, and an Indiana Academic All-Star. Beth plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana and to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She plans to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Braylee Knepp – Braylee is the daughter of Alex and Tera Knepp. Braylee served as class Vice President her junior year and received the Viking of the Year Award her sophomore year. Braylee is a Ten Year Daviess County 4-H Member and served as the Vikings 4-H Club President her freshman year. She participated in the Daviess County CEO Class her junior year.

Braylee was part of the Choir her freshman year. Braylee received four varsity letters in Golf. Her sophomore and junior years, she was awarded the Times Herald Area Player of the Year.

She was an individual regional qualifier her sophomore and junior years. As a senior, she was named Girls Golf Academic All-State and was part of a team sectional win. She led the team as one of the Team Captains her junior and senior years. Braylee received three varsity letters in Cheerleading, participating all four years of high school. She was named team co-captain her senior year. She has been active in the SADD, FCA, and Beta clubs all four years of high school. Braylee was named the First Alternate for the Lilly Endowment Scholarship. Braylee received the prestigious Presidential Scholarship at the University of Southern Indiana where she plans to double major in Accounting and Finance. She plans to be a Certified Public Accountant.

Class of 2023 Salutatorians

Sarah Bledsoe— Sarah is the daughter of Mark and Jennifer Bledsoe. Sarah was a part of the Math Academic Team her senior year and her team won first place at the Blue Chip Conference. Sarah has been a part of the volleyball team for the past four years and earned one varsity letter her senior year. She was a part of the Blue Chip Conference championship and Sectional championship this past year. She was named a Volleyball Academic All-State her senior year. Sarah has also been a part of the SADD and Beta Clubs all four years of high school and won third place in math her junior and senior years at the National Beta Convention. Sarah plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences in hopes of joining the Sonography program. After college, she plans to be a Sonographer.

Chantel Graber — Chantel is the daughter of Richard and Leanna Graber. Chantel has been a four year Beta member. Chantel was a one year varsity volleyball player her junior year. During this varsity season, she was a part of a Sectional championship and a Blue Chip Conference championship. Chantel has been involved in FCA some throughout high school. Chantel received the Val/Sal Scholarship through Vincennes University, and plans to attend Vincennes University to get a Assoicate’s Degree in Accounting. After graduating from college, she plans to be an accountant.

Natalie Wagler — Natalie is the daughter of Darin and Lori Wagler. She has been a member of the Beta Club all four years of high school. Natalie also served as a Defensive Specialist of the Barr-Reeve Girls’ Volleyball team for three years. While playing, Natalie earned two varsity letters. Natalie was on the State Championship team her sophomore year of high school. Herjunior year, Natalie and the volleyball team won a 3A sectional. Both of these years, the Barr-Reeve volleyball team were Blue Chip Conference Champions. She was also a member ofFCA. Natalie has received the Val/Sal Scholarship through Vincennes University and plans to attend Vincennes University to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. After graduating from college, she plans to teach either third or fourth grade.
