ODON — If you are looking for something inexpensive and fun to do as a family this weekend, or you just need an outlet for your closeted artistic spirit, the Odon Business Alliance and German American Bank are hosting the ideal event for you.
Chalk Up The Town will be held on Main Street in Odon Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon on Main Street. All ages are welcome to participate and will be divided into age categories for judging.
A limited supply of sidewalk chalk will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own for guaranteed colors.
Traci Stoll, one of the event organizers, said participants of all ages can register for free at a table set up on Main Street.
“While supplies last, participants will receive a free snow cone, t-shirt and a goody bag of items donated by local businesses,” said Stoll, who said the theme of this year’s theme is Disney, so participants will be assigned a sidewalk square to create their favorite Disney scene or character with sidewalk chalk.
Artwork will be identified by registration number only to allow for fair judging. First through third place cash prizes will be awarded to each age division. Judging will begin at noon.
Participants will not need to be present to win; however, it is requested that parents remain to supervise their children. Calls will be made to prize winners who are unable to be present when they are distributed at the event.
Stoll said even if a person doesn’t want to participate as an artist, they are still welcome to come see the works of local artists of all ages.
