Pat Dant announced Monday that he will be retiring from the Daviess County Council. Dant has served on the Daviess County Council since 2014.
"It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to retire from the Daviess County Council. It has been a pure joy to work on the Council but at this time [in] my life, I think it is best for me to enjoy my retirement, traveling more with my wife Claudia. We have also recently downsized and moved to a smaller house just outside my district," said Dant in a statement sent the Times Herald.
"I wish my friends on the Council all my best. It was a pleasure to work with this esteemed group of people. We've done good work together being good stewards of our tax dollars. It has been my privilege to work with each of you," he said.
The Republican Party will hold a caucus to replace Dant in the next 30 days.
