A two-vehicle accident Thursday morning sent six people to a Bloomington area hospital. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department reports the accident happened at 9:26 Thursday morning at the intersection of SR 58 and U.S. 231. Deputies report Lucinda Shirley, 52, Bloomfield was driving a 2012 Ford Focus east on SR 58 when witnesses said she ran a stop sign at U.S. 231 and collided with a south bound 2017 Chevy Equinox driven by April D. Burkett, 37, Martinsville.
Authorities report the Shirley vehicle hit the Burkett vehicle in the side. The Chevy Equinox then came to rest on its top.
The Sheriff’s Office reports Shirley was taken by ambulance to I.U. Medical Center in Bloomington for a complaint of pain to the abdomen.
Officers report Burkett was taken to I.U. Medical by private vehicle. Four juvenile passengers in the Burkett vehicle were also taken to I.U. Medical for complaint of pain. They were identified as Destyni Marlett, 13, Paragon; Haley Pruett, 17, Paragon; Haley Lingle, 13, Martinsville; Conner Yorn, 14.
Police closed the intersection for a short time while the crash was cleaned up.
Both vehicles were believed to be total losses.
