City council meets Monday

The Washington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers, 200 Harned Ave. Before the meeting there will be a public hearing on the rezoning of real estate on West Main and Southwest Fifth streets. There will then be a swearing in of a new police officer.

Items included on the Council agenda: reading of the ordinance to rezone real estate and introduction of an ordinance to address conflicts of interest regarding issuance of building permits.

The Board of Public Works and Safety will meet following the Council meeting to discuss a request for change of location for the Farm to Table dinner on Aug. 25 to Main Street utilizing the former German American Bank parking lot. and the second round of 2019 sidewalk and curb replacement applications.

DC commissioners will meet

Daviess County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse. Items included on the agenda: annex update; highway department report; St. Vincent Statflight report; Project Life Saver; multi-hazard claim.

SAFS activities include Christmas bingo

Senior activities next week at the Washington Senior and Family Services, 211 E. Main St., include:

Monday — Christmas in July is theme for the bingo sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary at 10 a.m.

Tuesday — Come in, play cards, games, Wii, watch TV or socialize, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wednesday — SHIP, State Health Insurance Assistance Program, will do a presentation at 9:30 a.m. If you attend the entire presentation you will receive an extra bingo card for the SHIP bingo that follows the presentation.

Thursday — Arm chair exercise begins at 10 a.m.

Friday — The Villages of Oak Ridge sponsor bingo at 10 a.m.
