VINCENNES – Vincennes University is offering short term, noncredit healthcare training programs at various sites throughout Indiana for Fall Semester 2019.

The VU Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program prepares students to perform patient clinical skills in the medical office setting. During the 14-week noncredit course, students perform clinical procedures including administering medications, conducting blood draws, performing an electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and maintaining clinical equipment in an ambulatory care setting. The 220-hour program includes 140 classroom hours (lecture and labs) and an 80-hour clinical externship. Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a VU Certificate of Completion and are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association national exam. The fee is $2,659 and includes textbook and certification exam fee. Classes start the first week of August in Indianapolis and the first week of September at all other sites. Locations include: Jasper, Bedford, Indianapolis (Ben Davis High School and Walker Career Center), North Vernon, Mooresville, Noblesville, and Vincennes.

The VU Dental Assistant Training Program with Dental Radiographer is a program that prepares students for an entry-level position in one of the fastest growing healthcare careers. The 12-week course includes a state-approved education program that provides students the proper training to be a limited dental radiographer. The purpose of the 102-hour course is to familiarize students with all areas of entry level dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a VU Certificate of Completion and are eligible to sit for the dental radiographer certification exam. The fee is $2,099 and includes textbooks. Classes begin the first week of August. Locations include Fort Branch and Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.

VU’s Sterile Processing Technician Training Program is designed to prepare students to function as a sterile processing professional in multiple healthcare settings. Sterile Processing Technicians perform and participate in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. The fee is $1,995 and includes textbooks. Classes start the first week of August at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.

VU’s Healthcare Patient Access and Registration Professional Program trains students to work in patient access and registration positions in healthcare facilities such as hospitals and health systems, physician offices, clinics, long-term care facilities, surgery centers, ambulatory surgery centers, rehabilitation centers, and other types of healthcare areas. Students learn important aspects, legal issues, quality control assessment and improvement strategies, and typical policies and procedures related to patient scheduling, registration, admissions, patient finance, guest relations, and numerous related services. The cost is $2,190 and includes all materials and test fees. The nine-week course begins on Oct. 1, in Jasper.
