Phillip D. Lawyer, 71, died at 1:37 a.m. Friday at his residence. Born Jan. 26, 1939, in Daviess County, he was the son of Ralph and Pauline (Miller) Lawyer. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and for 54 years was a self-employed truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Cobb) Lawyer, whom he married Aug. 4, 1992; a son, Kevin Lawyer of Plainville; a stepson, Darrald Loveall of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Christenia Loveall of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Jerad and Jeremy Lawyer; three stepgrandchildren, Nikkie, Aryha and Christopher Loveall; one great-grandchild, Felicia Lawyer; two brothers, Jacob and John David Lawyer, both of Huntsville, Ala.; and a sister, Shirley McCannan of Huntsville. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Felicia Lawyer. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Washington Chapel, with Bro. Chris Coney officiating. Burial will be in Plainville Cemetery, with military graveside rites. (Dec. 10, 2010)
