A Washington man is in jail accused of rape and sexual misconduct with a minor. Washington Police report the arrest of Jonathan Carroll, 19, on those charges.
Police say they began the investigation following a report to city detectives last Friday by the Department of Child Services of an event involving a 15-year-old Washington girl.
Police report the girl had met Carroll over social media and had communicated with him there. Then on Nov. 18 he assaulted her.
Officers report they did an interview with the victim on Tuesday and then followed up on the information they were given, eventually arresting Carroll later in the day Tuesday.
“Once our Multidisciplinary Team came together for the forensic interview with the victim this became a very fast-moving investigation,” said Washington Assistant Police Chief Trent McWilliams. “Detective Brandon Garland with the assistance of other Washington Police Department officers, the Department of Child Services, the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office and SWIACC (Southwestern Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition) worked diligently throughout the day ultimately leading up to Mr. Carroll’s arrest.”
Carroll is being held in the Daviess County Jail without bond.
