Plenty of changes will mark the beginning of the boys and girls basketball season for the upcoming weekend. These are the changes as of Dec. 2, but could change at any time without notice. Attendance plans will vary from school-to-school, and county-to-county and may also change per local health department decisions.
The Barr-Reeve boys will travel to Vincennes Rivet for a 6:30 p.m. varsity-only game on Saturday. They will then host Bloomington South on Tuesday in Montgomery for a 6 p.m. JV start. The Barr-Reeve girls will open their season on Dec. 10 against North Daviess, but AD Aaron Ash, said they are looking for a game before then if possible.
The Washington-North Daviess boys’ game for Saturday night at North Daviess is off, and the Cougars were heading to Shoals on Friday for a JV-V match-up, however as of Wednesday evening, that game was put on hold by Shoals, and North Davies will now be traveling to Springs Valley for a game. They have also rescheduled the Washington game for Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. The Cougars are looking to pick up a road game for Saturday night but the team and time have not yet been set. The Lady Cougars will host a tourney without fans on Saturday at the Cougar Den, playing Rock Creek at 11 a.m. and Mitchell following.
Currently, Washington will open its boys’ season on Sat. Dec. 11 at home against South Spencer, while Washington girls will next play Loogootee on Dec. 12. The Washington-Barr-Reeve boys’ game has been rescheduled for Jan. 12.
The Loogootee boys have gotten three wins already and travel to Jasper on Saturday to take on the 4A Wildcats. They then play Forest Park on Dec. 11. WC still appears to be playing Rivet on Dec. 11 in the Birdcage.
