VINCENNES — Two area golfers moved on to next Saturday’s IHSAA Regional at Country Oaks in Montgomery.
Washington’s Faith Dalton used a career-best 84 finish second behind Rivet’s Lily Waggoner (82), while Barr-Reeve’s Kadee Claridge also advanced without a team with a 91.
After Dalton’s 84, Reagan Phillips-Wright shot 100; McKenzie Parsons shot 105, and Jacky Abrego added 111. B-R’s Braylee Knepp added a 104,
The Hatchets finished fourth overall (400), with the top three teams advancing, including Rivet (360), Linton (388) and South Knox (388) all moved on. North Daviess finished ninth of 10 teams with a 434.
“A bittersweet day for the Lady Hatchets at today’s sectional. Our season as a team ended with a fourth place finish, but Faith Dalton finished second overall with a career low 18-hole score of 84,” said WHS coach Morris Petty.
“She was very good in every phase of her game and stayed focused and composed throughout. We couldn’t be more proud of her, and she will represent the Lady Hatchets well in the regional. Our other three seniors didn’t have the day they had hoped for, but they did their best and never gave up. All four of our team members are seniors and we will miss them. They have represented their school and community very well, and we are extremely proud of them all.”
