The Washington Hatchet 5th and 6th grade football team participated in the annual “Storm The Castle” tournament in Newburgh on Nov. 2 and 3, going 4-0 in the tournament and were crowned the tourney champions.

Saturday morning, they played Evansville North and won 28-0. Camden Haywood received game MVP and Jackson Clymer received the Bulldog Lineman award for the game. Game 3 on Saturday afternoon had the Hatchets defeating the West Side Boys 18-12, featuring players from Evansville Reitz and Mater Dei. Xavion Lesure with the Hatchets received MVP of the game. Sunday morning the Hatchets defeated the Linton Miners 33-0. Cordell Turner was MVP of the game.

Finally, the Hatchets were able to defeat Center Grove from Indianapolis 53-34 to win the tournament. Camden Haywood received tournament MVP and Kobe Thomas received the Bulldog Lineman award. This win follows an undefeated regular season of 8-0.
