Hatchets split at home

The Washington Hatchets volleyball team split a pair of Big 8 matches on Saturday in the Hatchet House. The varsity lost in five sets to Mt. Vernon, 25-22, 25-15, 25-20, 25-19, 12-15. The team posted 40 team kills, 38 team assists, 9 team aces and 66 team digs However, the varsity then responded, winning in three sets over Vincennes Lincoln, 25-20, 25-17, 25-23. As a team, WHS had 34 team kills, 10 team blocks, 11 aces, 26 team assists and 77 digs. “We played very well this weekend. Our aggressive play has improved a ton. We are now 17-7 and have secured a winning season for the first time in 15 years in Washington. It was great for our seniors to go out with a win against Lincoln in their final game at the Hatchet House,” said coach Brett Matteson. The JV lost in two sets to Mt.
