Lady Lions fall to Trinity
LOOGOOTEE — The Loogootee Lions volleyball team dropped a five-set match to Trinity Lutheran on Thursday at Jack Butcher Arena.
The Lions fell, 17-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-23, 13-15, with Asia Crim getting 10 service points, with Kylie and Makenzie VanHoy getting seven each. The Van Hoys also led in kills, as Kylie VanHoy had 18, Makenzie VanHoy added 17, Jaelyn Walker and Emily Wade had eight each.
The VanHoys also combined for 52 assists, while Kylie also had three blocks. Jocelyn Strange led with 40 digs, while Crim had 28 and Makenzie VanHoy had 21.
The JV was also defeated, 7-25 and 20-25 to move to 12-3.
Vikes beat NK in 3
MONTGOMERY — Barr-Reeve Vikings defeated the North Knox Warriors in Blue Chip action Thursday night. B-R once again showed dominance as they won in three sets, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-10.
Leading the Vikes was junior Hannah Graber, with 20 assists and seven service points. Sophomore Jenna Harrison, also led with seven service points in the win. The powerful junior duo of Addison Ainscough, and Anna Ballengee, each had 12 kills. Junior Jasye Thompson, had 11 digs for the Vikings.
Barr-Reeve’s JV played last night and also were victorious in two sets, 25-20, 25-17. The Vikings are now 24- 1 on the season. B-R travels to the Warrick Invitational at Boonville.
Hatchets defeat Evansville Harrison
WHS defeated Evansville Harrison 4-0 Thursday night.
Goals were scored by Jacob Davis, Grant Niehaus, and Brady Hill (2) on assists from Niehaus, Marvin Perez-Ramos (2) and Brock Melton. Joah Horrall, Wade Frances, and Julian Santillan combined for the shutout in goal.
“It was a good way for us to end the regular season. We played well and we were able to get most of our guys some good minutes and we are going into the postseason with no real health concerns,” said WHS coach Evan Stoll.
WHS finishes the regular season with record of 13-3-1.
Sectional begins Monday at the Sports Complex. WHS will take on Southridge in game one at 6 p.m. Pike Central and Vincennes Lincoln will follow.
