WHS downs Boonville

The Washington varsity volleyball team posted a win in three sets, 25-18, 25-15, and 28-26, over Boonville in a Big 8 match.

As a team, WHS posted 36 kills, eight aces, 32 digs assists and 61 digs. The WHS JV also won in two sets, 25-14, 25-16. Tomorrow’s game is senior night against Vincennes Rivet at the Hatchet House and WHS will honor its three seniors.

Loogootee downs Springs Valley

LOOGOOTEE — The Loogootee Lions volleyball team defeated Springs Valley, 25-16, 25-17, 25-22, to move to 17-2.

Asia Crim led with 11 service points, Jocelyn Strange added nine, and Kylie VanHoy added six. Kylie VanHoy had 16 kills, Makenzie VanHoy had nine and Emily Wade had six. The VanHoys also split 40 assists, while Kylie VanHoy and Wade split six blocks. Jocelyn Strange led with 20 digs, Makenzie VanHoy had 13 and Asia Crim had nine. The LHS JV also defeated Springs Valley 25-11, 25-16 to move to 12-2.

ND beats NC in 4

FARMERSBURG — The North Daviess Cougars traveled to North Central to face the Thunderbirds for a SWIAC match and returned with a win in four sets, 25-23, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-23.

“We were very proud of the girls tonight, we had some very solid play tonight. The defense played by Dakota McNabb, Macey Wagler and Kaylan Craven was spot on. Dakota did an excellent job of passing and playing defense, we know she has it in her and tonight she played like we know she can,” said ND coach Gina Ingram. “Offensively, Mya Knepp led the way but definitely had back up from Megan Marner and Dakota. All three girls were seeing the floor well and played smart. In the match tonight, we had energy for the majority of the time and even worked to fight back when we were behind. The communication on the court was much better and the girls worked together. We had some solid serving from seniors Kaylan Craven and Jaryn Gingerich.”

ND was led by Kaylan Craven with one ace, 21 digs, seven kills, one block, one assist; Jaryn Gingerich with one kill, six digs, four assists, one ace; Megan Marner with four aces, two blocks, seven kills, 11 digs, Mya Knepp with one ace, two blocks, 22 kills, seven digs; Macey Wagler with 36 assists, one kill, 15 digs, two aces; Dakota McNabb with one ace, 10 kills, 11 digs, one assist; and Emma Sargent with one assist, two digs.
