Lady Hatchets pick up road win
BOONVILLE — The Lady Hatchets soccer team got back in the win column at Boonville. The Lady Hatchets used an excellent defensive effort to defeat the Pioneers. The game would go the distance 0-0, but with the Lady Hatchets prevailing in penalty kicks in overtime. G.G. Revelorio saved every one of the Lady Pioneers efforts with Chloe Browning, Jessica Hart, and Hadley Faith connecting for the win.
The girls are back in action Saturday against Forest Park.
Cougar tennis survives Rivet
ELNORA — After a big win versus Washington, North Daviess (12-3) managed to avoid a major upset effort from visiting Vincennes Rivet by a slim 3-2 margin on Wednesday afternoon at Tony Steele Courts. Jaylen Mullen staved off Sam Hinkle 6-2, 7-5 in the top spot. Markus Britton lost a 4 and 3 singles match-up with Noah Donovan, but Colin Kemp picked up a hard-earned victory 7-5, 6-4 against Charlie Niehaus. The No. 2 doubles team of Brooks Helms and Breck Byrer had the easiest go at it, winning 0 and 0, while Aric Wade and Devin Collins took Rivet’s No. 1 team to three sets before falling, 2-6, 7-6 (3), 3-6.
The Cougars head to the west side of Evansville on Saturday to challenge both Mater Dei and Reitz.
B-R JH gets soccer win
The Varsity Viking soccer club (6-3) dominated the Vincennes Clark Alices, 10-0. Goals were scored by Addie Jarrett, Nolan McCain, Jake Truelove (hat trick), Payton Wagler, Dominic Wilson (2), Logan Gallagher, and Abraham Victoriano. Leo Wilson came up with a big save at goalkeeper off of a penalty kick late in the second half.
The next varsity game is Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against Bloomfield behind Antioch Christian Church
The JV club finished its season on the road against Vincennes Clark with a 3-0 win. Goals were netted by Wilson (assist from Sam Lynch), Jacoby Yoder (assist from Leo Wilson), and Gallagher (unassisted). Manny Ruble had eight saves as the goalkeeper. While the JV team began the season with three losses, they finished strong with four consecutive wins.
