Vikes stay unbeaten at 8-0
BLOOMFIELD — The Barr-Reeve tennis team won its match at Bloomfield 5-0 on Thursday night to go 8-0 on the season.
At No. 1, B-R’s Brycen Graber beat Turner Royal 7-6(6), 1-6, 10-5, Kayden Graber beat Baylin Graf, 6-2, 7-5, and Nathan Hunt beat Noah Cumming, 6-4, 6-1.
B-R’s Tommy Kidwell and Aaron Wagler beat Eli Cumming and Ryan Schulte 6-1, 6-2, while Logan Graber and Hagen Knepp beat Peyton Davis and Wilson Keene, 6-4, 6-4.
Viking JH falls to Loogootee
MONTGOMERY — The Barr-Reeve Junior High tennis team was defeated by Loogootee at Barr-Reeve tonight 0-5 to go 4-1 on the season.
B-R lost at every spot as Ethan Stoll was defeated by Isaac Waggner, 4-8, Ethan Graber was defeated by Drew Walker 0-8, No. 3 Pierce Madison was defeated by Wade Walton, 3-8.
In doubles, Kylan Lengacher and Donnie Miller were defeated by Leighton Jeffers and Brandon Bledsoe, 3-8, while No. 2 Landon Armes and Isaac Madison were defeated by Koen Waggner and Reis Whitney, 4-8.
Hatchets fall to Jasper
JASPER — The Washington Hatchet volleyball team fell to Jasper in their final Big 8 match-up in three games.
The varsity lost, 25-15, 25-16, 25-21, while finishing with 23 team kills, 21 assists, 42 digs five aces and seven blocks. The JV lost in two sets, 25-14, 25-15
The Hatchets hope to rebound on Tuesday against Linton. Elementary teams will be honored between JV and varsity games.
Hatchet netters beat Princeton
PRINCETON — The Washington Hatchet tennis team picked up a 4-1 win over Princeton on Thursday.
Zach Gray won the top slot, 6-2 and 6-4, while Braden Kixmiller was a 6-0, 6-1 winner. At No. 3, Brycen Neidigh lost 6-2 and 6-3, but Austin Gere and Owen Gray, won 6-1 and 6-1, while Jacob Rice and Jalyn Rook won 6-3 and 6-1 to complete the victory.
“The Washington Hatchet boys tennis team competed at Princeton last night for the first Big 8 Conference match of the season. The boys competed hard and got all wins in straight sets. We travel to Crawfordsville for an invitational on Saturday,” said WHS coach Jason Johnston.
WHS also won the JV match, 4-1.
ND tennis wins 4-1 at Lincoln
VINCENNES — North Daviess bounced back from its first loss by winning 4-1 at Vincennes Lincoln on Thursday afternoon.
Jaylen Mullen won his match 6-0, 6-2 at one singles, while Colin Kemp was next off the court with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the third singles position. Two doubles Brooks Helms and Breck Byrer teamed for the next point getting the 6-2, 6-3 decision. Markus Britton was the fourth winner — taking the No. 2 singles victory in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. One doubles lost in three sets in the finale as Hayden Parisien/Aric Wade lost 5-7, 7-6 (4), 4-6.
The Cougars are 8-1 and play Southridge in the first round of the Barr-Reeve Invite.
